Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

justpera (“we”, “us”) is an invite-only web application that helps Japanese-language content creators generate interactive study materials from their videos. The service is operated by Kevin Schiffer. Questions can be sent to mail@justpera.app.

2. What data we collect

  • Account information — name and email address collected through Clerk (our authentication provider) when you sign in.
  • Video content — YouTube URLs you submit, or video/audio files you upload. Uploaded files are stored on our server and are never shared.
  • Transcript and enrichment data — text transcripts, furigana, JLPT tags, and vocabulary generated from your videos.
  • Patreon OAuth tokens — if you connect your Patreon account to gate viewer access, we store only the access and refresh tokens needed to verify patron membership.
  • Usage logs — standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, HTTP requests) for debugging and abuse prevention.

3. How we use your data

  • To process your videos and generate study materials.
  • To authenticate you and protect your account.
  • To gate viewer access via Patreon when you enable that feature.
  • To debug issues and maintain the service.

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. Third-party services

We use the following sub-processors:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management.
  • OpenAI — Whisper transcription of audio.
  • Anthropic — AI-assisted word disambiguation and sentence breakdown.
  • Patreon — OAuth for patron verification (only when you enable gating).

Audio/video content submitted to OpenAI for transcription is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy. Text sent to Anthropic for enrichment is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy.

5. Data storage and retention

Data is stored on a private VPS. Uploaded files and generated data are retained until you delete the project. Account data is retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email mail@justpera.app. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use only functional cookies set by Clerk to maintain your session. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered users.
